Their cousins had them, and our kids begged constantly until we finally caved. At first, it seemed like a great decision—it gave us some breathing room to have conversations or enjoy a dinner out without the kids acting up. But if I had known how addictive it would become, I never would have given in. Fast forward to today: my daughter is now in her second year at MJS, and her life revolves around the iPad. She doesn’t want to go to school, leave the house, or spend time with her friends in person because she’d rather be on her iPad or iPhone. She even acknowledges that it serves as an escape from life and admits she prefers it over interacting with people, which has only heightened her anxiety issues.
